Start Of A New Journey

So it has been a long time since I have posted on here. Hopefully I will be able to keep up this time!!! I guess life just gets in the way sometimes.

So I had been sitting round feeling a bit blaahhh with myself and noticed some of the pics that had been taken of myself and I was really not liking what I had seen. So about 1 month ago I decided to do something about that. I joined Weight Watchers online. It has been great. I have lost about 10 pounds with that so far. I find it easy to track my points because I always have either my iPad or iPhone with me. I find it easy to follow as well because I don't find that I am too restricted on it and I can eat what I want on it just in moderation. The main thing is that it makes you accountable for everything that you eat. I realized just how much I snacked before and how I really didn't pay attention to what I was eating.

So for the past month I have been doing that and making a conscious effort to make sure I got in some form of exercise at least 4-5 times a week. Some days have been more intense and some have just been cardio. My favourite thing to do is to sit on the recumbent bike and ride and read. My books of choice (obsession) lately have been "Fifty Shades go Grey/Darker & Freed" (But that will have to be talked about in a whole other post). I found that I could read and ride and it would make the time go by faster. I have kind of been at the same weight now for the past 2 weeks (fluctuated up and down a little bit with the holiday that just passed).

So I started thinking that I needed to try something more. So today I decided to start The Turbo Fire DVD's.

I had tried them out before but had not continued with them. So I am going to try my best for the next couple of months to get through these. Now I know that the summer is coming and I do work the night shift but I am going to make a  conscious effort to get in better shape and get healthy. It was very encouraging and motivating to watch all the success stories on the internet.

I started with them tonight. I did the first video and it wasn't too bad. I used my little heart rate and calorie watch that Chad and the kids got me for Mother's Day and it said that I burned about 750 calories. Not too bad for the first day. I really enjoyed myself it was hard but it felt good. I even decided to take my measurements and some starting pictures. (Those won't be posted on here and they are not very nice, so I hope they will provide the motivation that I need to get me through)

Chad has been very motivating and has been doing a great job himself. Just after I joined Weight Watchers he started doing George St. Pierre's Rushfit DVD's. He has been doing great at following them and is looking mighty fine. He said he feels stronger and he is very motivated to get through them.

So that is our story for now. It is the beginning of a long journey but one that we will work together and motivate each other to get though. Until next time.

Bieber Fever

WE'VE GOT THE FEVER!!!!!

The kids love Justin Bieber. We have been them for a little while that once we were on March break then we would take them to to see Justin Bieber's Never Say Never movie. We took them the other night to see the movie, and it was great. The kids liked it but they were a bit tired. Thats what happens when you have a busy day and you try to get Avery down for a nap (but that doesn't happen) and then they both had swimming lessons.
Logan was a little unsure at first and asked Chad if this was actually the movie. (I guess thats what happens when every movie that they have seen at the theatre has been animated).
Avery liked the movie too and was singing and dancing in her chair. But then I think that it just got a bit too late, she ran out of snacks and the day caught up with her and she was falling asleep near the end of the movie. It was actually quite comical but we managed to keep her up until the car ride home.

Now the movie was very good. It's not that I am a huge Bieber fan like some people, but I did like him before this and I did have a couple of songs downloaded from itunes. But once the movie started I was hooked. I am glad that we had to wear those lovely 3D glasses because it wasn't too long into the movie and I was welling up with tears. I am not a huge crier at movies but it happens sometimes and this one got to me. It wasn't the music that did it, although he really is crazy talented. But it was incredible how one determined young boy can set a goal and become so successful. As a parent that is your ultimate dream for your children. We always tell the kids that they can succeed at whatever they want in life as long as they try hard and never give up. We tell them that it won't always be easy but you need to just try your best.

I love the fact that he is a fellow Canadian and Logan thinks that it is quite funny that he is from Canada (just like his sports idol, Sidney Crosby). I like to emphasize the fact to Logan that JB and SC both know what they wanted out of life at a young age and they both worked hard and followed their dreams.

I loved how touching it was to see how his parents (especially his Mom) allowed him to follow his dreams and was right there beside him to help him and encourage him. I love how how his Dad was crying asd he watched him perform. I love how his life was documented in home videos and pictures from his family. I can totally relate. I am always the one who has to "capture the moment" and "capture the memories" whether it is on video or in pictures. I love having those memories to look back on and enjoy.

I feel bad because lately I haven't been so much with the video taping but that really makes you think and want to capture more more of the everyday living on video. I love pictures but sometime you just cant beat video footage. I love to look back at how tiny the kids are and see how funny or how goofy they are and to hear their little voices. You can't beat that. So I am going to TRY and be more vigilant about taking more video of the family.

I love how generous and real he and his staff and management team appear. How they go out and around before every show and give tickets away to unsuspecting people. Or how real and sweet JB was with the little girl that he pulled up on stage with him. We have seem him on other programs before and he looks like he has been raised right. He seems like a good kid, polite, respectful and very good to his family. And again that is what he expect in life out of our children. To be respectful and to give back to others. And no matter what family is the most important thing in life.

My 9 year old niece absolutely loves him and she is going to love this movie once she gets to see it. I would recommend this movie (I am in no way a movie critic). It is great for the whole family. Whether you are a Justin Bieber fan or not, it is nice to sit back and enjoy a movie that is great for the whole family.

March Break!!

It's March Break time!!! Whooo, I love this time of the year. The kids are off of school for the week. Chad has the week off. And I took vacation!!! Time for some good family time. It is well deserved family time .With us all being sick and me having to work pretty much every day last week. We are all better now and we are quite enjoying our break. We have done lots of family stuff:
  • Sliding
  • Snow Forts
  • Card Games
  • Crafts
  • Movie Dates
  • Swimming Lessons
  • BBQ's
And lots of stuff around the house:
  • Reorganizing the pantry
  • Reorganizing and de-cluttering some kitchen cabinets (Still some to do)
  • Weeks and weeks worth of laundry (old stuff to put away and new stuff to wash and put away)
  • Vacuuming and shampooing all the carpets
  • Cleaning and disinfecting the bathrooms and kitchen to get rid of whatever germs are kicking around
  •  Trying to de-ice the driveway
  • Washing all the floors
We have so much more planned for the week. St. Patrick's Day Party, more crafts, more sliding and playing outside, family coming to visit, hockey tournaments and so much more. The best part of it all is all the family time that we will have together. I love it and I am so excited to be together as a family.

With Kids, Things Don't Always Go As Planned!!

So it hasn't really been the week off that I was expecting. I had a big week planned. I was going to rearrange the pantry, put away all the baskets of laundry that have been waiting for me, get some Logan has been sick since Monday night with a fever and non stop coughing. He looks like he might be showing some signs of getting better. But I will keep my fingers crossed that it ends soon. I ended up getting what was going around too. It's always fun taking care of 1 sick kid and one that has plenty of energy to go around, when you feel like you have been hit by a truck. Thank goodness I have a great husband who gave me lots of time to rest once he got home from work. The only good thing about having a sick child is the amount of snuggle time you get. Today once I got home from some training at work, my parents were here to visit and they took Miss Avery out to Costco for a while and they let Mr Logan and I have a few hour nap. It was nice to have that snuggle time. It did him a world of good to have that nap. He looked like a new kid when he woke up.

So I haven't said this yet, but to the people that know me. I am a huge Pittsburgh Penguins fan. When ever we get a chance to watch a game on TV we take the opportunity to do so. I am a huge Sidney Crosby fan. I am very disappointed that he is still out. But obviously he needs the time to get better from his concussion. It was quite the hit. We were there at the Winter Classic and I remember watching the hit and he was down for quite a bit and he looked quite rattled from the hit. I  remember saying to Chad that things didn't seem right.

But the team seems to be doing OK without him. (Obviously it could be better but they can only do what they can do). I will still cheer for my boys no matter how they are doing. Speaking of my boys, I was very happy to see today that Jordan Staal got a haircut. It was getting so long. And it was past due.

And now, so much better (AFTER):

Well I need to go to bed now because you never know what the night (and the kids) will have in store.

Busy Day!!!

So today is going to be a busy day here in the house. Logan was up part of the night coughing and with a fever. He is off today to his winter carnival at the school and I am off to volunteer at the carnival. Should be fun sliding and skating with a bunch of 4 and 5 year olds. I am looking forward to it. Nothing beats watching the excitement on a five year olds face when he is having fun and playing with his friends. I hope that he is till feeling well and not feeling to down. I was thinking of not sending him but I think that he would have been devastated if he couldn''t go. It was already cancelled last week and postponed till this week so if I told him he couldn't go then it wouldn't have been good.

Miss Avery is at preschool already. I already dropped her off and have to get her later. Than it is lunch with her and some friends then a play date with other friends later. Then when Chad gets home it is swimming and dinner. Phefff it is going to be a busy day. But a fun one!!!!

And So It Begins!!

So this is it, I have finally decided to take the plunge. This is my first post. It is all very new to me. I have been reading blogs for a long time and have finally decided to start one of my own. Not too sure exactly where to start (or if anyone will read it), but I'm sure that I'll figure it out as I go.

I have lots of ideas to put on here and I look forward to sharing them.
